The above-mentioned 'ancient Swedish national air' refers to "Herr Peder och liten Kerstin", which is a Swedish folk song, existing in a number of arrangements, e.g., for mixed choir (by Hugo Alfvén, published by A.-B. Carl Gehrmans Musikförlag, Stockholm [C. G. 3194]).
