Work comment

The setting for mixed choir a cappella was one of the award-winning ten songs (5th place) at the Folksångstävlingen [Folks song competition] 1901. (See separate post for that version.)
Wilhelm Peterson-Berger reviewed the competition under the title of "Vad vi sluppit sjunga" ['What we did not have to sing'].

Libretto/text

1. Du ärorika fosterland,
där fädrens kummel stå
du höga fjällbekrönta strand,
den trogna böljor slå

2. Om ock jag for på södervåg
till fager drufvostrand,
Till dig stod dock tillbaka min håg,
till dig, mitt fosterland
