Work comment

The national anthem ('Du gamla, du fria') and an aria from Johann Gottlieb Naumann's national opera Gustaf Wasa ('Ädla skuggor, vördade fäder') consistute the main themes in the composition.

Waldemarsudde was the home of Prince Eugen of Sweden (1865–1947), now a museum. It is situated on Djurgården in Stockholm.
