Work comment

According to the cover of the printed music, the ball took place at the Börshuset [The Stockholm Stock Excange Building in Gamla stan ("The Old Town")]. The wedding took place on 28 July, 1869, in the Royal Chapel (inside the Stockholm [Royal] Palace)

According to Jeanson, Söderman received this commission by telegram while staying in Germany. He replied that hopeful regarding the promised fee, he would accept the challenge because "I do need money".

Jeanson also writes that the most effective part of the composition is the interlacing of the Danish folk song towards the end. The rest is [approx.] 'filling material in the form of fanfare ornaments'.
