Work comment
Tvärdrag (Cross Draught) was composed in 2007 on commission from Malmö Opera Orchestra and is dedicated to Per-Otto Johansson and the orchestra's string section. Two string groups are placed opposite one another. Melodic lines, chords, rhythms and grooves pass between them, creating a musical cross draught. Their exchanges sometimes overlap, forming new layers of counterpoint. Antiphonal responses, canon and cantus firmus meet the idea of communication across networks: sending, receiving and answering.
